Anacapa is the second smallest of the 8 channel islands. It has some of the best sea caves, clearest water, and most prolific wildlife! Paddle Sports has been guiding people at Anacapa Island for the past 16 years.

This tour gives you the opportunity to paddle around beautiful and dynamic East Anacapa Island. Upon arrival at the Landing Cove, we don our kayaking gear and receive instructions on sea cave exploration, basic paddling skills, and safety. Once on the water, we venture into and through many of the sea caves, arches and pocket coves as conditions permit. We will paddle to spectacular Cathedral Cave, encountering sea caves big enough to drive a semi-truck into, and others so small you can barely squeeze through! anacap archConditions allowing, we will paddle under forty foot tall Arch Rock, symbol of the National Park!

As we paddle along the coast of Anacapa Island, the towering cliffs provide an excellent habitat for sea stars and sea urchins along the waterline. Anacapa has one of the largest breeding colonies for western gulls in the world and the largest breeding colony of brown pelicans in the world. Sea lions and harbor seals play below us. Often the water is crystal clear allowing you to see fish and marine life from on top of the kayak.

Along the way our guides act as natural history interpreters, informing you about the geology, plant, animal, marine life, and the history of Anacapa Island as well as the other Channel Islands.

We will kayak about 4.5 miles over approximately a 3 hr. period. At the end of the journey it is time for lunch (not provided). After lunch there may be time for you to go for a short walk up to the small visitors' center or take a swim or snorkel at the landing cove. Enjoy the ride back across the channel, returning to Ventura by about 5:00 P.M.
